England vs Peru Friendly

In recent world cup visits, England have not performed the way we all wanted them to and also the way the players themselves wanted to, and with the World Cup in Rio gradually getting near, its time for the England camp to start looking at the players that will start the first game of England’s 2014 World Cup. The international friendly is on Friday 30th May and should be a stepping stone as England face up against Peru at Wembley Stadium.

This match will be a chance for Hodgson to either look at how his first 11 shape up and play or even start to look at different formations or positions in which he could look at using in the World Cup. Players in the England squad will be looking to show what they can offer and try to seal a spot in the first 11.
Personally, I would look at starting the first eleven in my mind and seeing how I could adapt the eleven on the field with the young and upcoming talent. My starting eleven would be as follows:

In goal I would start Fraser Forster, some people would probably say to start Joe Hart but in my opinion Forster is an amazing young keeper who has shown his form for Celtic. Even though for the world cup, my number one would be Joe hart, I would ever start Forster or bring him on for half a game.

At right back I would start with Glen Johnson, being a strong and powerful right back he has also shown what he can do not only for his club, but previously for his country. The two Central Defenders would be Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka, this is because these would be my two main defenders for England as they are both great aerial threats, strong on the ball and have both got a great defensive mind. My left back would be Leighton Baines as he has performed amazing for club and country and has proven to be probably one of the best in the world in that position. I would however bring on Luke Shaw for 45 minutes as he still needs to get some international experience.

In the midfield I would shape up with two central midfielders, these would be Steven Gerrard to command the line and also the team followed with Jack Wilshere. Both midfielders have performed well this season but my only worry would be Wilshere as he can get aggressive and start to lose the ball if not under control. I would then have two wide midfielders being Raheem Sterling and Adam Lallana, both players are new to the England squad but are more than capable to perform and have shown this though out the season. I would then have a Central Attacking Midfielder to play behind the forward who would be Rooney; this is because I feel this is his strongest position within the England team and also for Manchester United.

The lone striker with support from Rooney would be Sturridge. As we all know he can play some amazing football and produce goal scoring chances. Sturridge has smashed in some great goals for Liverpool and has defiantly earned his spot in the England team.

There are a lot of different combinations that could be used in the friendly and with the tough first game in the world cup, the squad will all need to prepare if they want to be able to get anything out of the tournament this time round.
