The transfer window has opened, and clubs will be looking to bring in players that can hopefully change the future of the club. This post will talk about completed club transfers up to the 29th January. We will start off with top table side Arsenal.

With Arsenal currently sitting top of the table, at this moment in time there has not been much activity within the transfer window for this club. With the arrival of big signing Mesut Ozil in the last transfer window, it doesn’t look like Arsenal would need to go searching for players as the current squad is strong. Arsenal have made one new signing in the transfer window and it looks to be a future investment. Matt Macey, signed from Bristol Rovers for an undisclosed fee, is an English Goalkeeper who looks to be a great prospect for the future.

Aston Villa
With results coming from all directions, Aston Villa are a squad which most fans will be hoping that the last stretch of the season will bring them more goals as they are struggling to find the net. Paul Lambert has hopefully brought some more fire power to the club as he has sealed a loan deal with Wigan Athletic for veteran striker Grant Holt. Also to bring more youth to the side, they have strengthened the back line by sealing another loan deal for young Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea.

Cardiff City
Cardiff city are currently struggling to find their feet in the Premiership as they are rooted to the bottom of the table. With the transfer window opening, this could be a chance for them to seal some talented players to help them survive relegation and stay in the Premier League for next season. At the moment, two signatures have been found as Cardiff have signed two young players to help them out the relegation zone. Midfielder Mats Moller Daehli has signed for an undisclosed fee from Molde and second signing Magnus Wolff Eikrem is an Attacking-Midfielder who also has signed for an undisclosed fee from Dutch side Heerenveen.

One of the first big money moves has happened in the Premier league and Chelsea are the team to do it. To strengthen their side, they have confirmed the signing of Serbian Midfielder Nemanja Matic from Benfica for his second stint at Chelsea. Hopefully Matic will live up to the £21m fee which has Chelsea have paid for him. Chelsea has not signed any other players but as the transfer window is still open, I’m sure talks are still on going as Chelsea will be looking to sign some world class players.

Everton are the next club to complete a transfer and a top class player has been confirmed. Aiden McGeady has joined the club for an undisclosed fee from Spartak Moscow and looks to bring more pace to the side. The Republic of Ireland Midfielder still has age on his side and has previously played for Scottish Champions Celtic before moving to Spartak Moscow in 2010.

Fulham are currently struggling this season as the start they had doesn’t seem to be a good one, sitting just above the relegation zone, it will be a window that could potentially decide whether the club stays in the Premier League or gets relegated to the Championship. The only deal that has been completed for Fulham has been the return of Clint Dempsey from Seattle Sounders; this deal is a loan move for the American as the current MLS season is on a break.

Hull City
One club that has surprisingly been near the top of the big spenders in the transfer window at the moment is Hull City. They have confirmed the signing of two strikers with total of spend of £13.0m. The two signings are Shane Long from West Bromwich Albion for £7.0m and Nikica Jelavic from Everton for £6.0m. The two strikers will hopefully be able to impress and keep the club from facing a relegation battle as only four points separates them from the relegation zone.

Manchester United
The biggest deal of the January transfer window so far has to be the £37.1m transfer of Spanish midfielder Juan Mata from Chelsea to Manchester United.

Manchester United fans will be hoping this signing will lift their team back toward the top of the table and provide the creativity and spark which the team has been lacking of late. With the team currently languishing in 7th place, the team needs a catalyst to kick-start their stuttering campaign and hopefully start a late push toward the top of the table.

With a whole plethora of names out there being linked with Manchester United and a reported war chest of £200m available for David Moyes, hopefully we shall see more signings before the transfer window closes.

Norwich City has confirmed a Loan signing of Jonas Gutierrez. The Newcastle United Midfielder has joined the side as he was struggling to find a spot this season at the Tyneside club. This could potentially be a good start for Norwich as they also look to be in a relegation battle come the end of the season. Hopefully Gutierrez can lift the side’s confidence and keep the club from facing a battle they defiantly would not want.

Stoke City
Stoke are yet another struggling side that could potentially face a relegation battle come the end of the season, but to strengthen their side they have completed two signings in the transfer window so far with the first being a loan deal from Manchester City. Man city striker John Guidetti has joined the club on a loan deal that could see the youngster gain valuable premier league experience. The second signing is from the Midlands as Steven Ireland signed from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee.

Marcos Alonso has confirmed a loan move to Sunderland from Fiorentina. The struggling side look as if they have brought the player in to try and bring more goals to the board as the current strikers they have, seemingly cannot convert their chances. With the club in the relegation zone they will need to try and bring in players that will push them out and into the safety zone of the premier league.

West Ham
The final club in the premier league to confirm any signings are 18th place West Ham United. Bringing in the most players so far to the club in the transfer window with a total of three, west ham look as if they are trying to improve the spine of their squad as they bring in two strikers and one defender. Carlton Cole has re-joined the club after leaving and Jaanai Gordon has joined the club from Peterborough for an undisclosed fee. The final deal that has been confirmed is a loan move for Wolverhampton Defender Roger Johnson. Hopefully the signings they have gained can bring the club up the table.
With the transfer window still open, more deals are soon to be announced and all premier league fans will be waiting on deadline day to see what big signings will happen.
