The group stages of the Europa League have been drawn and it gives us the opportunity to look at the different sides in each one of the groups. In total there are twelve groups in the Europa League group stages and only the winning side from the groups can progress to the next round.

Group A

Villarreal, Mönchengladbach, Zürich and Apollon all battle out in the first group to gain a place into the next round. Villarreal and Mönchengladbach are going to be the favourites of this group as both sides have proven that they can handle themselves in the leagues they are in, but the two underdog sides Zürich and Apollon could prove to be a handful.

Group B

Not many fans will know the teams in this group but three of the sides have had to go through the Europa League play offs to get a spot in the groups. København look to be the favourites of the group as they automatically gained a place but Club Brugge, Torino and HJK all look to be pushing hard this season to get where they are.

Group C

Group C sees the first of two English sides in the competition, favourites Tottenham will be facing up against Beşiktaş, Partizan and Asteras to gain a place in the next round. Tottenham should be fine in progressing through this group as they are one of the biggest sides in the whole competition.

Group D

Despite failing to make the Champions League, Celtic has been drawn into Group D of the Europa League. Coming up against some sides that have not got the ability Celtic have to offer, this puts them favourites of this group. Celtic will be up against Salzburg, Dinamo Zagreb and Astra.

Group E

In Group E, there are three good sides that could all have a chance of going through to the next stage of the Europa League. PSV, Panathinaikos, Estoril and Dinamo Moskva have all been placed in this group. For me PSV look to be the favourites of this group but Panathinaikos and Dinamo Moskva are both very good sides so this could prove to be a close group.

Group F

By far the favourites of this group are Inter Milan but St-Étienne could cause an upset. The other two sides in this group are Dnipro and Qarabağ but in my eyes it should be an easy group for Inter Milan to progress to the next round.

Group G

Another group that has a definite favourite id Group G, Sevilla are a very strong side and they have been put up against Standard Liège, Feyenoord and Rijeka. If Sevilla plays like football fans know they can it should be an easy progression to the next stage of this competition.

Group H

Group H is one of the hardest groups in the competition as we see a strong Wolfsburg being grouped with the second English side in the competition Everton. In my eyes Everton will be the favourites due to some excellent signings but Wolfsburg are a very strong side and have proven this over the years. The other two sides in this group are LOSC and Krasnodar.

Group I

This group consists of another Italian side that should easily go through to the next stage. Napoli has drawn Sparta Prague, Young Boys and Slovan Bratislava in their group.

Group J

The tenth group of the Europa League consists or Dynamo Kyiv, Steaua, Rio Ave and AaB. This group does not seem to be very exciting as some fans may not know any of the teams but Dynamo Kyiv have some strong players in their side and could progress through the stages. I would say Dynamo Kyiv are the favourites of this group.

Group K

As it comes to the last groups of the Europa League, not many sides in these two groups are known, the only side known to fans will most likely be Fiorentina. Fiorentina, the favourites for Group K, have been grouped up with PAOK, Guingamp and Dinamo Minsk.

Group L

Group L is the final group that consists of four sides not many people would know about. Metalist, Trabzonspor, Legia and Lokeren make up the final group with all four sides going through the play offs to get to the group stages. But Lokeren may be the side how can cause a shock as they beat Hull to get through the this stage of the competition.
