Many other European teams in countries such as Spain, Germany, France and Italy have winter breaks, with teams usually playing their last game before Christmas around the 15th December. They then get a break lasting roughly a month to enjoy the festive period and rest both their mind and body. There are now only twelve league games left before the end of the Premier League season, and subsequently the relegation battle is heating up.
This last weekend saw both Burnley and Leicester pull out surprise draws against Everton and Chelsea. That additional point they both received could be the difference between survival or Championship football next season.
The weekend also saw Villa and Queens Park Rangers lose meaning that Villa, Burnley, and QPR are now all level on the second lowest points tally with only goal difference separating them.

Sunderland has not had the greatest set of performances and results during October. There embarrassing display of football started with a long trip down south to Southampton where they ended up conceding 8 goals. This summer saw over €1 billion (£857.7m) spent as Premier League teams fight to both win the title, and stay in it.
Manchester United were the biggest spenders, bringing in high profile names such as Di Maria (from Real Madrid) for £59.7m and Falcao (Monaco) on a season long loan.
